Our community’s parks, trail and golf courses are more popular than ever as folks take a break, get fresh air and exercise. After closing in Spring 2020 during stay-home orders, nearly all Parks indoor facilities are now open and programs have resumed. During spikes in local COVID cases, all members, visitors and guests are asked to help keep each other safe by following these guidelines:
- Face coverings are no longer required indoors.
- Temperature checks are no longer required before entering Parks facilities.
- Keep minimum distance of 6 feet at all times between yourself and others.
- Wash your hands often, including before and after visiting parks
- Avoid touching your face
- Cover any coughs or sneezes
- Please stay home if you are feeling any symptoms of illness
Frequently Asked Questions
Face coverings, covering the nose and mouth, are required for all persons age 12 and older and recommended for ages 3-11 in public facilities.
City ordinance requires everyone 12 and older to wear a face covering indoors, and in crowded outdoor areas. Face coverings are not required while you are exercising, playing sports or swimming, but they are required in common ares such as lobbies, restrooms, changing rooms and while waiting in line. Face coverings are also required during Open Skate sessions at Jordan Valley Ice Park.
In addition, please maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet at all times, and follow these guidelines:
- Wash your hands often, including before and after visiting parks
- Avoid touching your face
- Cover any coughs or sneezes
- Please stay home if you are feeling any symptoms of illness
City ordinance includes exemptions for several situations and activities, including:
- Children under the age of 3.
- Persons with health conditions that prohibit wearing a Face Covering.
- Persons who are hearing impaired, or someone who is communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.
- Persons who are consuming food or drink while maintaining a physical distance from other groups of patrons of a least six feet.
- Persons at a swimming pool.
- Persons playing a sport, exercising or using exercise equipment while exerting themselves.
- Persons working in settings which might increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
- Persons who are outdoors while maintaining physical distancing of at least six feet and persons who are outdoors who are closer than six feet to solely members of their own household.

Face coverings are required in all common areas, including the entrance, front desk, skate rental, lobby, spectator seating and standing areas, restrooms and pro shop. Per Springfield-Greene County Health Department guidelines, face coverings are also required on the ice rink during Open Skate sessions. Face coverings are not required on the ice rink during figure skating or hockey programs, following the city code exemption for playing a sport.
Yes, outdoor parks, including playgrounds, open spaces and trails are open. Physical distancing guidelines remain in place.
Park Board playground equipment is not disinfected regularly. However, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department advises that the virus causing COVID-19 may be susceptible to UV light and humidity.
Visitors are advised to keep a minimum six-foot distance from others, make sure they wash their hands before and after visiting parks, avoid touching their faces, cover any coughs or sneezes, and avoid crowds. All park visitors are asked to please stay home if they are feeling any symptoms of illness.
Chesterfield, Dan Kinney and Doling family centers are open and following a regular schedule. Indoor pools are open.
Temperature checks are required to enter the building. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be admitted and may not reenter the facility for 24 hours. Face coverings are also required to enter the building, and in common areas. Face coverings are not required while you are exercising, playing sports or swimming.

Softball, Baseball and Sluggers leagues have resumed and are following a normal schedule. Modified rules may be in place, check with coaches. Please follow these guidelines. Miracle League is not expected to resume before Fall 2021.

Limited-capacity outdoor programs are offered for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Miracle League is postponed to Fall 2021. Doling History Museum is also closed.
