Research, rethink and reimagine the power of people and place in this discussion about historic Lake Placid, Missouri’s first Black resort, established in 1934 in Morgan County. Join teacher, farmer and visionary Brendalyn King, the current owner of 244 acres at Lake Placid. King and her partner are currently redeveloping land for hemp production and processing fibers to serve as wood alternatives. King is joined by Dr. Gary R. Kremer, Executive Director of the State Historical Society of Missouri and author of “Race and Meaning: the African American Experience in Missouri,” which explores Lake Placid’s rich history as a vacation destination.
