SPRINGFIELD, MO – There is still time to register for Springfield’s Thanksgiving tradition. The 27th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk Presented by Brad Bradshaw, MD, JD, LC, takes place Thursday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 28, at the location of your choice.
Register to earn your Thanksgiving calories and support your community through the Developmental Center of the Ozarks and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board Youth Recreation Scholarship Fund. Please bring five food items to donate to Ozarks Food Harvest.
Online registration is open through Tuesday, Nov. 23, 11:59 p.m. After that, you may register in person only Wednesday, Nov. 24, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m., at Killian Sport Complex, 2141 E. Pythian St.
Choose your own route and complete your Turkey Trot 5K over Thanksgiving weekend, alone or with friends and family. View sample routes at ParkBoard.org/TurkeyTrot. Registration includes a long-sleeved Turkey Trot t-shirt and commemorative race bib. Time yourself running or walking your 5K in your shirt, and upload your race times and photos for the chance to win contests and prizes. Submit results by midnight on Sunday, Nov. 28, at ParkBoard.org/TurkeyTrot. Upload photos by midnight to Facebook.
Packet pick-up is a drive-through event held Wednesday, Nov. 24, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m., at Killian Sports Complex. Participants may also register on site and drop off five nonperishable food items for Ozarks Food Harvest. Historically, Turkey Trot is one of the group’s largest food drives of the year. The Park Board is also collecting food donations in barrels placed at multiple parks facilities.
