SPRINGFIELD, MO — The Springfield-Greene County Park Board, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation, hosts the 40th Annual Kids Fishing Fun Day, Saturday, June 5, at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, 3825 W. Farm Road 146, Springfield.
This free event is designed to teach kids ages 3-15 how to fish, and encourage them to put their new skills to work throughout the summer. The Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park pond is fully stocked with largemouth bass, channel catfish and bluegill, and each child may catch and keep up to three fish at this event.
Kids Fishing Fun Day activities also include:
- Complimentary first fish photo
- Free drinks provided by Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company
- Free ride on the Cow Train
- Door Prizes
This event is free but registration is required by Thursday, June 3, 5 p.m., at ParkBoard.org. No on-site registration is available. Kids age 3-15 may register to fish at 8, 9:30, 10:45 a.m. or noon. Space is limited and sessions may fill up.
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your own rod and reel or use one provided by Missouri Department of Conservation. Staff may provide limited pond-side fishing assistance.
In case of rain, Kids Fishing Fun Day may be rescheduled for Saturday, June 12, same times and location. Participants will be contacted by email.

Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park offers catch-and-release fishing daily, March through October, with $5 fishing pole rentals. Monthly Family Fishing Nights are held through the summer. For dates and details, visit ParkBoard.org/FarmPark.
