Request for Qualifications
Cooper Youth Baseball & Killian Softball Complex Additions & Improvements
The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is soliciting qualification statements from firms interested in providing Engineering and Architectural services for additions and improvements at the Cooper Youth Baseball & Killian Softball Complex in the City of Springfield. The Springfield-Greene County Park Board’s end goal is to improve the existing facilities to be competitive with other facilities in the region for hosting tournaments and events.
The sports complex is currently operated by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and includes soccer fields, baseball fields, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, concession stands, restrooms, changing rooms, shelters, walking trails, and parking. The entire complex is approximately 127 acres.
There are currently five (5) youth baseball fields and six (6) softball fields that are included in the scope of this addition and improvement project. All of the fields are currently natural grass and will be converted to synthetic turf. New restroom and concessions buildings at the Killian Softball complex (to replace the existing facilities on the east and west sides of the existing airplane hanger building) and new restroom and concession building at the Cooper Youth Baseball complex (to replace the existing roundhouse building) will be included as the budget allows. Additional improvements include completing the permanent seating on the first base side of the existing Killian softball stadium and converting one of the existing Cooper Youth baseball fields to a stadium style field which would include moving the fences back, creating a covered seating/press box area, new dugouts with shade structures, and a new scoreboard.
The intent of this Request for Qualifications is to procure engineering and architectural services for the facility additions and improvements. The selected Consultant shall work with staff from the Springfield-Greene County Park Board to refine the programmatic needs and design of the proposed buildings, determine the best synthetic turf system for the baseball/softball fields, and identify all necessary site work to accommodate the proposed additions and improvements. Design services shall include surveying, geotechnical investigations, schematic design through preparation of construction documents, permitting, bidding and negotiation, construction administration, and post construction services.
The Springfield-Greene County Park Board intends to include all of the engineering and architectural design of the soccer facility additions and improvements under one professional design contract.
