Daylily Garden

The Springfield Botanical Garden is proud to be home to a National Daylily Display Garden, named in 2012.

More than 800 varieties create a breathtaking spectrum of colors, hues and patterns from late spring through summer.

The Daylily Garden is cared for by the creative and passionate volunteers of the Ozark Daylily Society, which cultivated its national recognition. The Society tends the garden and supports it with an annual Daylily sale to raise funds for its upkeep. Additional support is needed, however, to maintain other aspects of the garden’s infrastructure.

Calvin Helsley, founder of the Ozark Regional Lily Society and long time active member of the North American Lily Society, assisted Major Close and Bill Roston in the design of the original lily beds at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center. Mr. Helsley was an ardent lily hybridizer and contributed countless hours planning and planting lily bulbs to beautify our lily beds.
