This vintage favorite for generations of gardeners peaks from mid-May to June when some 120 plants in 50 of the most beautiful varieties - old and new - bloom with a profusion of color and fragrance.
Designed and established by the venerable Dr. Bill Roston in 2009, the Peony Garden will anchor its location near the Daylily Garden for the next century or longer with these hardy heirlooms. Visitors are fortunate to take in the incredible sensory sensation, as peony gardens typically are not features of public gardens.
Even after the peak season, the garden is overplanted with annuals to continue its eye appeal throughout the growing season.
