Meador, Westport pools open late tonight due to Heat Advisory

Extended pool hours, cooling centers offered during Heat Advisory

 

Springfield, MO, August 2, 2012 - The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for today, Thursday, Aug. 2. During this heat advisory, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board is offering extended outdoor pool hours and access to air-conditioned lobbies serving as cooling centers.

 

The following pools will be open until 8 p.m. today:

Meador Pool, 2500 S. Fremont, Ave.

Westport Pool, 3100 W. Mt. Vernon St.

All outdoor pools are also open normal hours daily 1-6:30 p.m., with maintenance days staggered Monday through Wednesday. A full schedule is posted at parkboard.org/aquatics.

 

Normal admission is $2.75 adults, $2.25 kids age 3-17. After 5:30 p.m. admission to all pools drops to $1 or a canned food item. All food collected goes to Ozarks Food Harvest.

 

Those needing a break from the heat are welcome to spend time in free cooling centers available during regular business hours during Heat Advisories, at:
