Heat Advisory prompts pool schedule changes

SilverSprings_8975

To help residents keep cool and stay safe during National Weather Service-issued Heat Advisories, the Springfield-Greene County Park Board adjusts schedules at outdoor pools and the Springfield Skate Park, and offers cooling center options. Previously scheduled Splash & Sizzle events also keep pools open late weekends in July.

POOLS

If scheduling allows, the Park Board strives to keep at least one outdoor pool open late during National Weather Service Heat Advisories, including:

Thurs., July 19, Silver Springs Pool, 1100 N. Hampton Ave., open until 8 p.m.

Outdoor pool admission is $2.50/youth and seniors, $3/adults, 1-5:30 p.m. Admission drops to $1, or free with a canned food donation every day, 5:30-6:30 p.m., and that discount rate is also extended to close when pools are open late.

Splash & Sizzle discount swimming events continue every weekend in July. Grant Beach, Westport and Silver Springs pools are Fridays in July until 8 p.m. Grant Beach, Westport, Silver Springs and Meadow pools are open Saturdays in July until 8 p.m. A rare opportunity for night swimming takes place at Fassnight Pool, open Saturdays in July until 10 p.m. After 5:30 p.m., admission to all pools is $1, or free with a canned food donation.  Food donations benefit Ozarks Food Harvest.
