Bark in the Park moves to Phelps Grove Park


Springfield, MO — Dogs and their owners are invited to the 29th Annual Bark in the Park dog festival Sat., April 28, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. This year’s event is at a new location, Phelps Grove Park, 950 E. Bennett St.

The free event includes:

  • 11 a.m. Guided Dog Walk
  • 12:30 p.m. Dog Yoga demonstrations
  • Paw Print Art station
  • Dog Caricatures
  • Canine Vendor Village, featuring businesses and nonprofits dedicated to pet care.

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board and the Citizens Dog Park Committee present the annual event to raise awareness and funds for Cruse Dog Park, Springfield’s first off-leash members-only dog park, 2100 W. Catalpa St, with an entrance near West Grand Street and South Kansas Expressway.

Bark in the Park sponsors include PetsWay, Camp Bow Wow and Deerfield Veterinary Hospital.

April 28 is a busy day for the Phelps Grove area. Bark in the Park overlaps Park Board partner events World Tai Chi Day at Springfield Art Museum (9:30-11:30 a.m.), and the Community Wide Play Day at nearby Fassnight Park (10 a.m.- 2 p.m.), as well as the Art in Bloom event at the Springfield Art Museum (10 a.m.- 6 p.m.)
