An Urban Garden is a City / County wide opportunity where volunteers may contribute to the preservation of open space, provide access to it, and create sustainable uses of the space. Urban gardens strengthen community bonds, provide food, and create recreational and therapeutic opportunities for a community. They can also promote environmental awareness and provide community education.
Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park has garden plots available for rent. When you rent a garden plot it is your garden to plant whatever you wish. It is also your garden to water and maintain as your vegetables grow. When it comes time to harvest, everything is yours to keep.
The urban gardens are located on the northeast side of the property owned by Rutledge-Wilson Farm. A gate accessing the gardens is located off of Farm Road 129, across from Frito Lay. Gardening season is March 1 through October 31.
